Courtyard Theatre
Located in Historic Downtown Plano is a 321-seat theater, with a very large stage and spacious lobby. There have been many events held here as it’s a perfect venue for a variety of special events. Such events include concerts, musicals, receptions, private parties, stage plays and so much more.
The Theater was actually the original gym for Plano’s Cox High School. It was constructed in 1938 and is actually a significant building for Plano’s history. In 1999 the city council approved a $4.6 million restoration of the gym. The materials and styles of the building were preserved and modern functionality and colorful interior accents were added.
There is free parking available at the rear of the Courtyard Theater Cox Playhouse complex off G Avenue. You can find a few spaces in the front of buildings on H Avenue. If visiting during the weekend or after hours the parking of the Municipal Court across 15th street serves as parking.
Aside from being used as a venue space, there are art shows and musical concerts here as well. You can visit their website to see the schedule and also take a virtual tour of the building. You’ll be surprised at just how appealing the whole environment is.
